Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) – there you go! Now, unless you’re familiar with online marketing this probably doesn’t mean a thing to you, and why should it? Most people use search engines but they don’t need to know their inner workings. It’s exactly the same as driving a car, we seldom think of how a car actually works because we don’t need to. Think of it as quality control, when you enter a word or phrase, search engines such as yahoo, google and bing use ‘algorithms’ to ensure they display the most relevant information. Okay, so I slipped in a bit of jargon there, let me explain the term algorithm. Algorithms are mathematical formulas used by search engines to decide how relevant websites are to any given search. Now, consider your own search experience. When you’re looking for something you want to find it quickly and easily. That’s ALL search engines are trying to deliver.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) aims to improve the visibility and rankings of a website. Put simply, it’s a process that’s designed to get you to the top of the search engines. The higher you are ranked in the search results, and the more frequently you appear, the more traffic you will receive.

3. What does Search Engine Optimization work include
Now there’s a question! There are many recognised techniques but it’s generally acknowledged that good SEO work focuses on;

· High quality, relevant content
· On-page optimisation to enhance coding
· Links to your website
· Technical aspects such as hosting
· Social Media

Algorithms changes frequently, so is important they understand these changes and tailor their approach. 4. Negotiate fees that are performance related and remember cheap isn’t always good!
