You have a wide market and you know where they are, use this to your advantage!

Use social media to make sure that people can find you. It’s a great tool as it’s free and you’re in control. There are numerous options within each platform that can be used to your advantage, build up your audience and then deliver great offers and discounts to ensure they stay loyal and keep buying from you. You can add friends to make them aware of your existence, create polls and competitions, freebies, do whatever it takes to get your company noticed. To be successful you need to get internet users on your website, let them know you exist, if this means running a few loss-leaders or taking a hit on giveaways then that’s what you must do. When you have awareness then you can change tact.

So, where else can you push your company without it costing? Use blogs, submit articles and become active in forums. Establish yourself as a source of authority on your product or service. This build credibility and will drive traffic to your website. There are arguably advantages in terms of where you website ranks in the search engines for doing this type of work.

Sounds like a lot of effort? Yes, it is and it can be very time consuming. The biggest mistake people make when starting an online business is in thinking that simply having a great product or service is enough. Wrong. You need quality traffic that converts into sales. The only way your website will be noticed is by the work you or your marketing agency do.

Search engines optimisation – we’ve left the best for last. This really is a job best left to the professionals but being high up the rankings in Google, Yahoo, Bing and so on will provide an excellent return on investment.
